All the TV I could be catching up on (current season of Agents of SHIELD, two years' worth of Hawaii Five-0, the last season of Ripper Street) and I've decided to embark on a re-watch of Sherlock.

They're making a film based on the life of Alan Turing and starring Benedict Cumberbatch?

Oh my God, gimme. Gimme now. It will be so tragic and heartbreaking and amazing...

Only downside is, Keira Knightley's probably going to be in it as well. Playing whom, I don't know. Not the love interest, thankfully, that's for sure.

I saw Star Trek in 3D IMAX down in London this morning, and...wow. It was amazing. I mean, the movie itself, yes, but seeing it in IMAX was really something. I've never actually seen anything in IMAX before - it's so huge and loud and crystal-clear. Mainly prompted by this article and class calculator on the BBC website, which posits the new theory that there are now seven classes: elite, established middle class, technical middle class, new affluent workers, traditional working class, emergent service workers and precarious proletariat.

( Class seems to be a particularly fraught topic of conversation, particularly in the UK, but I have to confess it's not something I've spent a great deal of time thinking about. Perhaps that is an indication of my class itself - that it's not something I've ever felt impacted negatively on my life in any way, so it's something I've taken for granted. And I'll hold my hands up to that. )

Oh my God, is it May yet?

I am so excited about this. I loved the first reboot movie so damn much, about a million zillion times more than I thought I would (and yes, Pike was a BIG part of that, but even so) - and this looks amazing!

On the one hand I'm thrilled that Benedict and Martin have both been nominated for BAFTAs, but I really feel that they should both have been up for lead actor. I mean, I know the series is called Sherlock, but Sherlock and John are a partnership, and so are Martin and Benedict. They both carry the show, you can't have one without the other ( Read more... )
